Amy Lee Walton is a multidisciplinary designer that walks the fine line between design and code. At Mapbox, she brings visual narrative and systems-based design thinking into her cartography work. She touches many facets of cartography and user experience design including designing beautiful thematic maps, designing and maintaining general purpose Mapbox GL maps, querying open source datasets, conducting online and in-person user testing, and delivering valuable insight to product roadmaps for user-centered improvements. Amy Lee holds an MFA in graphic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she coalesced graphic design with physical computing, generative and creative code, and digital fabrication. She has designed, engineered, and shown her interactive installations abroad with in multiple shows in The Netherlands and done project-based documentation work in Israel.

An active speaker and thought leader, Amy Lee builds curriculum for and leads talks and workshops discussing the design process, purposeful programming, cartography and visual narratives.
